On June 2, 2023, Mrs.Saskia Bruines, The Hague’s Alderman for Finance, Economy and Culture (including Cultural Heritage) paid an introductory visit to the old Jewish cemetery at the Scheveningseweg in The Hague.
On that occasion Mr.Michiel van Haersma Buma, chair of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Cemetery presented her with the first copy of a new booklet : “The Jewish Cemetery, an unknown and pristine piece of The Hague”. Written by Mr.Nico Westpalm van Hoorn this publication briefly describes Jewish life in The Hague, then and now, as well as the history of the cemetery, established in 1694, now a national monument.

The price is 12.50 euros plus postal charges (4.04 euros for domestic delivery, 8.25 for international delivery). The total amount has to be transferred before shipment to account number NL26 INGB 0003376801 in the name of Stichting tot Instandhouding van de Joodse Begraaafplaats ‘s-Gravenhage, citing ‘Publication’.
The publication is also available for 10 euros in cash during the periodical Open Days at the cemetery such as the annual Open Monument Day.
The proceeds will go to preserving the cemetery.
